The book proves that there is more to intertextuality than the mere allusion to other texts as it contributes to the source text (ST). Intertextuality in James W. As a form of intertextuality, allusion has two functions, on one hand, to make the ST internally coherent and, on the other hand, to add to the play's ideologically neutral form.
