Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Brown quarter cloth and marbled paper covered boards with gilt lettering to spine. Boards are generally in good order, just a little shelfwear. No particular bumping or wear to corners or edges. Spine is age darkened with a little bumping to ends. Rough cut page edges. Occasional mild foxing. Pagination: [xxxii], 381 pp + adverts. Internally bookplate on front paste down; lacks free front end paper; rear free end paper toned as is the half title, and title page less so. Occasional insignificant foxing. A rare sought after book. Original publisher's steel blue cloth - gilt embossed to the spine. No inscriptions. Mistake on p vi, 'B.C' scored through and replaced in ink with 'A.D.' The cloth faded to brown on the spine and all margins of the boards - no sharp fading 'lines'. The lower two board corners are bumped or turned in. A slight chip to the upper paste-down of the rear board. A slight chip to the head of the rear paste-down. Some not heavy foxing to the fore-edge. A very good, tight, clean first edition copy.
