Bon état pour ce rare ouvrage réunissant les 80 planches (montées sur Chine pour l'essentiel) avec les portraits en pied des comédiens, et les 80 notices correspondantes rédigées par différents auteurs. Bon état (rouss. variables avec qq. ff. brunis, mais intérieur souvent bien frais, surtout pour les planches, ex-dono de l'époque en faux-titre, rel. un peu frottée) pour cet ouvrage de référence qui plonge le lecteur dans la vie théatrale de l'époque romantique ; les portraits sont finement gravés, expressifs détaillent bien la physionomie de chaque acteur. On y retrouvera par exemple Tamburini, Mlle Déjazet, Frédéric Lemaître, Mme Dorval, Mlle Rachel, etc. Vicaire, III, 849 (qui évoque 20 livraisons d'un tome III jamais terminé) Langue: Français.

With a damaged presentation inscription at the upper right corner of the front wrapper -- it is apparently from the author to the illustrator, but a missing corner has removed several words.

A rare piece of entertainment and art history.
