Le catalogue WorldCat (en ligne) n'en recense, sauf erreur de notre part, que trois exemplaires, dont deux à la BnF et un en Allemagne (BSB München).L'ouvrage a été rédigé par un colon guyanais à l'intention du comte Pierre-Clément de Laussat (1756-1835), gouverneur de Cayenne et dernier administrateur de la Louisiane. On y trouve une description géographique fort précise de la Guyane française, dont il détaille les richesses naturelles (café, cacao, canne à sucre, cotonier, giroflier, muscadier, poivrier, arbre à pain.), la flore et la faune, ainsi que les établissements agricoles et industriels. Un chapitre aborde la question de l'esclavage par l'évocation des "Nègres marrons", (esclaves en fuite), leurs ruses et leurs cachettes, la manière de les chasser, etc. (pp. 104 à 107). Il y a une section sur la météorologie et les expériences de physique : thermomètre, baromètre, variation de l'aimant, méridienne, expériences du pendule à Cayenne, etc.On trouve à la fin du volume une description de la ville de Cayenne agrémentée de considérations sur l'instruction publique, le collège et la maison de santé. Dans un catalogue de la Librairie Chamonal publié en 2001 (Livres anciens - Voyages - Géographie - Marine, n° 323) figurait un manuscrit portant un titre légèrement différent et qui semble bien être une mise au net avant impression de notre mémoire. Une note sur le titre du manuscrit indiquait que l'ouvrage imprimé aurait été tiré à 300 exemplaires, chiffre qui semble bien exagéré si l'on considère le tout petit nombre d'exemplaires qui en ont survécu. On doit au sieur Noyer, "ancien ingénieur-géographe et habitant-propriétaire" à Cayenne, un Mémoire sur les forêts vierges de la Guyane (Paris, Huzard, 1827), cité par Sabin et Leclerc.Exemplaire parfaitement conservé, très grand de marges ; quelques piqûres et feuillets brunis.
