Ausgehend von einem Abriss semiotischer Zugänge zu ikonischen Zeichen wird der vorherrschende Ähnlichkeitsansatz unter Rückgriff auf Wahrnehmungstheorien zugunsten eines Exemplifikationsansatzes verworfen. Exemplifikation wird im Rahmen einer unifikationsbasierten Grammatik umgesetzt.
