Es precisamente en este período cuando surge la figura del dramaturgo Luciano Francisco Comella, uno de los máximos represe…ntantes de la estética teatral popular. Una estética que, partiendo de concepciones barrocas, fue evolucionando a lo largo de la centuria con el quehacer de autores como Antonio Zamora, Cañizares y Ramón de la Cruz, entre otros, y que, en esta etapa final del siglo, presentaba ya unas características completamente integradas en el contexto ilustrado del momento. La enorme popularidad alcanzada por algunos de estos autores, como fue el caso de Comella, no logró sin embargo el reconocimiento de los estudiosos y eruditos. El trabajo de la doctora Angulo recupera al dramaturgo catalán y lo sitúa en los valores de la Ilustración. LIBRO.
