Postcard / Ephemera. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition Thus. [EDWARDIAN COMIC NOVELTY / RAILWAY & TRAVEL HUMOUR / MUSIC HALL MEMORABILIA] Original Edwardian era color lithograph comic postcard titled along the upper vertical margin: "ARE YOU THE LASSIE FROM LANCASHIRE?" Published locally as entry No. 65 in the sought-after "Coronation Blackpool Series" by the regional Northern publisher A. & E.C. ILLUSTRATION & MUSIC HALL INTEREST: Released in 1908, this card is a direct, humorous contemporary pop-culture parody of Florrie Forde's massively popular Edwardian music hall song of the same name. The graphic depicts a grinning railway station porter carrying an impossibly elongated, accordion-folded chain of luggage boxes behind a picket fence. He is addressing a caricatured woman carrying a small satchel outside a brick "LOST LUGGAGE OFFICE." POSTAL HISTORY & MANUSCRIPT CONTENT: This specimen is postally used and provides great regional social context. The reverse bears a fluid handwritten message in bold black ink tracking a classic Northern seaside getaway: "Dear Harry, Having a grand time at Blackpool. But it looks like having some very wet weather. Yours, Henry." The card features an intact green King Edward VII Half-Penny stamp cleanly tied to the cardstock by an exceptionally bold, perfectly centered circular duplex postmark reading "BLACKPOOL / 2:30 PM / AU 10 / 08". Hand-addressed to Miss L. Friar at Dunmail House, St. Annes, St. Helens, Lancashire. The reverse is beautifully framed with Art Nouveau floral borders and a central crown emblem for the Coronation series. CONDITION: Very Good antique condition. The color print on the front remains remarkably bright, crisp, and clean with no surface scuffs, scratches, or fading. Cardstock is firm and flat with straight borders and only negligible corner tip rubbing. The reverse face is beautifully preserved; the purple Art Nouveau framing, the bold postmark, and the hand-written script are completely sharp, unfaded, and entirely legible. Totally free of structural creases, tears, or vintage album glue stains. A premium, exceptionally clean example of Edwardian music-hall-era pop culture, seaside resort humor, and Lancashire postal history. Anonymous Comic Illustrator (A. & E.C. Studio) (illustrator).
