Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the world of transonic flow calculations, a critical aspect of aerodynamics. It explores the use of the Poisson equation to accelerate the convergence of iterative schemes in transonic flow calculations. The author presents a novel two-stage iteration method that combines the Poisson equation with relaxation steps to stabilize the supersonic zone. The book provides a detailed analysis of the method, demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing the number of iterations required for convergence. The method is applicable to both quasilinear and conservation forms of the potential equation, ensuring broad applicability. The author also discusses potential improvements to the method, including the use of selective sweeping and the incorporation of other techniques to prevent divergence in the supersonic zone. This book is a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners working in computational fluid dynamics, particularly those interested in transonic flow calculations. By combining the Poisson equation with relaxation steps, the method presented in this book offers a significant advancement in the field, leading to faster and more efficient solutions. Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the transonic potential flow past a swept wing, extending the computational method of Jameson for an airfoil to the three-dimensional case. The flow is analyzed in coordinates nearly conformally mapped from the physical space in planes parallel to the symmetry plane, reducing the wing surface to a portion of one boundary of the computational grid. The finite difference approximation is in conservation form, which introduces substantial errors in the treatment of shocks without using a shock fitting scheme or else a difference scheme in conservation form. To assure the correct shock jump relations the author uses a rotated difference scheme, and the difference equations are solved by relaxation. The method is capable of treating wings of arbitrary planform and dihedral, although approximations in treating the tips and vortex sheet make its accuracy suspect for wings of small aspect ratio. Hardcover. Zustand: Like New. First Edition. A firm and square hardback with sharp corners and strong joints, just showing a few very minor cosmetic rubs. Hence a non-text page has a small 'damaged' stamp. Despite such this book is actually in nearly new condition. Thus the contents are crisp, fresh and tight; no pen-marks. Now offered for sale at a very sensible price.…
