Gli strumenti di metodo e di informazione tecnica illustrati sono finalizzati alla migliore comprensione delle relazioni operative esistenti fra la progettazione di un edificio e il successivo momento esecutivo, fino alle fasi di uso, dismissione e riuso. Il testo è articolato in tre parti. Progetto. Nella prima parte viene affrontato il tema della progettazione tecnologica dei sistemi edilizi e delle tecniche costruttive, dei componenti innovativi e dei prodotti industriali per la costruzione. Le tecnologie del calcestruzzo, dell'acciaio, del vetro, del legno e le tecnologie a secco sono analizzate nei loro aspetti morfologici, prestazionali, di integrazione, e nelle mutue implicazioni progettuali e costruttive. L'evoluzione di materiali, tecniche e sistemi di produzione viene descritta in relazione alle più recenti sperimentazioni, spinte anche nel nostro Paese grazie a una maggiore consapevolezza ambientale e rese possibili dalle innovazioni progettuali e produttive oggi in campo. Nella seconda parte sono sintetizzate, in un quadro sinottico e in uno scenario evolutivo e circolare, le informazioni necessarie ad acquisire la consapevolezza del progetto di architettura come processo progettuale, caratterizzato da sequenze, ruoli degli operatori, metodologie e nuove strumentazioni operative e di ICT. La modellizzazione del processo edilizio si estende dalla programmazione, alla progettazione, alla costruzione e alla gestione, fino alla fase di dismissione, riciclo e riuso, attraverso la quale la circolarità del processo genera un nuovo episodio attuativo.
