Zustand: Good. - The Austrian pianist and composer Alfred Grunfeld's autograph signed in pencil across the blank side of a 6-1/2 inch high by 9 inch wide fragment of a page from a program or periodical, with notes about various "dances" printed on the verso. This unevenly torn fragment of a page is darkened and creased. Folded for mailing. Good. Known as Vienna's "Kammervirtuose", the Austrian pianist & composer Alfred Grunfeld (1852-1924) was the first significant pianist to make a commercial recording. Grunfeld was a student of Josef Krejci at the Prague Conservatory and later of Theodor Kullak and J.T. Hoyer at the New Academy of Music in Berlin. Settling in Vienna, he toured Europe and the United States before he was appointed Court Pianist to Germany's Emperor Wilhelm I. Grunfeld became a professor at the Vienna Conservatory in 1897.

The two signatories sign on separate sides of a 13.5 x 16.5 cm leaf of faded pink paper torn from an autograph album. In good condition, lightly aged. Schnabel's large firm signature is on the recto: 'Artur Schnabel | 19. X. 1934'. Goossens signs in a large bold hand on the reverse: 'Yours sincerely | Léon Goossens | 1934'. A small photographic portrait of Goossens, cut from a newspaper, has been tipped-in at bottom left, and another party (presumably the recipient) has written the word 'ABERDEEN.' at bottom right.
