Paperback. Zustand: Near Fine. Most management books promise to transform your workplace into a harmonious utopia where everyone communicates brilliantly, meetings finish early and the printer mysteriously starts behaving itself. Stuck takes one look at those promises, quietly raises an eyebrow and asks a rather more uncomfortab…le question: what if your organisation isn?t inefficient because of poor strategy. but because it?s traumatised? Philippe Bailleur explores the intriguing idea that companies, charities, government departments and institutions can carry emotional scars just as people do. Mergers, mass redundancies, disasters, toxic leadership, endless restructures and years of unresolved conflict don?t simply disappear because someone launches a new mission statement printed in an optimistic shade of blue. They linger, shaping behaviour long after everyone has forgotten?or chosen to forget?how the problems began. This isn?t another parade of corporate buzzwords marching under banners proclaiming Agility! Synergy! Transformation! Instead, Bailleur approaches organisations as living systems rather than malfunctioning machines. If a business seems permanently "stuck", endlessly repeating the same mistakes despite expensive consultants and colourful PowerPoint presentations, perhaps the problem isn?t the latest management framework at all. Perhaps the organisation is still wrestling with yesterday?s ghosts. What makes the book particularly refreshing is that it doesn?t descend into mystical hand-waving or management cliché. The concepts are surprisingly practical, drawing together psychology, systems thinking and decades of coaching experience into something that managers, consultants and curious observers can actually use. Even if you?re deeply suspicious of books with subtitles involving "organisational trauma", you?ll probably find yourself nodding along more often than expected. Mostly because you?ve almost certainly worked somewhere that felt inexplicably exhausting despite everyone insisting things were "going really well". Of course, there is a certain irony here. Businesses spend fortunes measuring productivity to the nearest decimal place while often ignoring the accumulated effects of years of upheaval. They?ll happily replace every laptop in the building but remain baffled that morale refuses to install the latest update. Bailleur gently suggests these two facts may not be entirely unrelated. This 2018 paperback is in Good condition, showing only the sort of light wear expected from a book that may have been consulted during a particularly ambitious organisational "change programme" or quietly read at home while wondering why Monday mornings always feel strangely familiar. Clean, solid and perfectly ready to diagnose somebody else?s workplace before you accidentally recognise your own. Ideal for managers who genuinely want to improve organisations, consultants who enjoy asking awkward questions, psychologists interested in systems, or anyone who?s ever survived six restructures, four new CEOs and seventeen "fresh starts" without ever quite escaping the feeling that the office has developed a personality of its own. Because sometimes the biggest obstacle to moving forward isn?t a lack of vision?it?s that nobody has noticed the company is still arguing with its past.
