Gregory (1932-2017), was one of the first African-American comedians to satirize issues of race and politics in the 1960s, paving the way for Richard Pryor, Red Foxx, and Chris Rock. This anthology includes an excerpt from his 1964 autobiography -- "nigger" which was published the year after he participated in the historic "March on Washington" in 1963.
