Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. _____The very uncommon jacket is well worn, lacking the top 1" of the spine. _____ Inscribed by the author in 1915. _____ Biography of a nineteenth century entrepreneur._____ With a chapter on an 1861 trip by wagon from Michigan through Kansas to Canon City, Co, down to Texas and back through the Indian Territory and Kansas._____ It has anecdotes of Kansas experiences and sights and nice descriptions of Colorado and Texas events._____ It includes Streeter serving as defense attorney at the summary murder trial of an emigrant at Marysville, Kansas._____ The subsequent hanging concludes the sorry event._____ . _____ Also included are his Civil War experiences with the Fifteenth Regiment of Michigan Volunteers._____ After the war Streeter was unsuccessful at running a traveling circus but had better luck with his steamboat business on the Mississippi._____ He subsequently started a livery stable and omnibus company in Iowa._____ This served to place him in Missouri where he describes a meeting with the James Brothers at a dance in Morgantown, Mo._____ In one of his later incarnations, as a fairway hawker, he claims to have been _at the Kansas State Fair when the James gang robbed the ticket office and killed a woman with a stray shot. _____.
