Hard Cover. Zustand: As New. oblong 4to, hardcover, 64 pp., color illus., Captain Peter Batty was a liaison officer attached to the 8th Indian Division and took part in the action that occured on May 11, 1944.during the day leading up to the battle he collected the propaganda leaflets that the Germans fired at the Allied troops, and kept them safe since then. These leaflets, and his notes made during the battle, are the main content of this book. A rare opportunity to understand the dynamics of printed propaganda. Review: A lovely book considering the obvious topic. Fascinating for anyone interesting in collecting anything about Nazi Propaganda techniques and holds some beautiful images of excellent quality. I highly recommend it. --By B. Presland Having searched for some time after good examples of German propaganda aimed at Allied forces fighting at Cassino (particularly the Polish forces), this book promised much. And it delivered. These fascinating examples are reproduced clearly, in full colour and at 'life size', each has also been translated into English. If you're expecting a hefty tome packed with lengthy discourse, then you might be disappointed. As its title suggests, this book is more of a snapshot, and certainly one you'll look at again and again. --By WRW.…

"Illustrated by a detailed plan of the operations, and numerous plates of moutain and river scenery." - title page. Fold-out map at title page. "The history of European warfare affords few examples of battles which have been more important in their results, or more brilliant in their achievement, than that of Vitoria. The campaign too which preceded it was distinguished by a series of the most able manoeuvres, compelling the enemy to retreat from the frontiers of Portugal to a defensive position behind the Ebro, without being able to oppose the allies in any general action. Thus, in the short space of one month, the influence which the French had held over the Peninsula, during several years, was brought to a fatal crisis." - pages 1-2. Clean, bright and unmarked with negligible wear. An excellent copy. Batty, Captain Robert (illustrator).…
