An expedition in 1907 from France to Melbourne on board the J.B. Charcot with a year's stay on the Kerguelen islands for exploration and sealing. In order to finance this expedition, one of the sponsors, the British "Daily Chronicle", bought the story in 1910. (It was only translated into French in 1990).
