Marston Moor (2 July 1644) was the largest clash of the English Civil War: the parliamentarians of Lord Fairfax and the Earl of Manchester, with the Scottish covenanters of the Earl of Leven, defeated the royalists of Prince Rupert of the Rhine, who thereby lost the north of England.
