The author demonstrates how the sutures of the skull are not preformed but instead develop in response to the direction of blood vessels. The formation of different suture shapes is directly tied to the incidence of Haversian canals and their vessels on the suture. Furthermore, rather than sutures driving skull growth, the author posits that both are reactions to an underlying cause.
