Zustand: Good. - Quarto, tan cloth titled in brown with a vignette of an Australian soldier in brown on the front cover. The covers are bumped, soiled & lightly spotted with some staining to the rear cover. Half-title, title, [x], 128 & [1] pages. 12 color plates, including a frontispiece, from paintings by Ivor Hele & Harold B. Herbert, & black-and-white photographic illustrations, cartoons & drawings. There is a gift inscription on the half-title. There is a paper-clip mark with a tiny piece out, some light staining & a crease to the title page. There is also a paper-clip mark to the dedication page & very light marks to the front endpaper & half-title. The top edges of the color plates are lightly stained & slightly rippled, probably from humidity. Good. First edition.The editors note that almost all the contents of the book are the work of men on active service with the Australian Imperial Force. Authorship is indicated by the writer's army number and initials.
