Soft cover. Zustand: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Program for the famous 1956 "Subway Series" between the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers. The series went 7 games, with the Yanks routing the Dodgers in the seventh game. Games 1, 2, 6, and 7 were played at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn; Games 3, 4, 5 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. The series was best remembered for Game 5 - Oct 8, 1956 - at Yankee Stadium in which Yankee pitcher Don Larsen pitched the first postseason perfect game, the only no-hitter in World Series history until the Houston Astros pitching staff threw a combined no-hitter in Game 4 of the 2022 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Game 5 in the 1956 series remains the only perfect game in the history of the World Series. This program is for that game; laid-in is the Game 5 ticket stub for a reserved seat in the lower stand ($3.75). Program measures about 9 x 12", stapled spine, 48 pages. Nicely preserved copy.
