Decorative green cloth boards with minor fading to edges. Contents clean and tight, but ffep missing. Nice DW with minor rubbing/chipping to edges, minor loss to spine, minor soiling. 3 lovely colour plates and B&W illustrations by the author throughout. A fascinating and insightful book by a man who spent many years in China whilst in the army.

Three volumes within a single book. Paged as [8], 1-181, [1], i-v, [1], [8], 1-201, [1], i-x, [10], 1-164, [4], i-ix. Hardcover: H 21.25cm x L 15.5cm. White dust jacket toned and soiled with several small stains; chipping, tears, and creases at edges. Blue cloth. Foxing/toning to text block edges. Toning to endpapers; past owner's ink signature at top of front free endpaper; interior leaves remain mostly clean. Binding is firm. Numerous printings of this book were published in Hong Kong but this copy, by its printing and paper, reflects qualities often seen with Taiwan pirate editions.
