Cliff Butcher, born in 1909 in South Gundagai, was a local businessman and historian who deeply cherished his hometown. He wrote extensively about its heritage and played a key part in preserving local historical artifacts. Subjects: The first chapter outlines the Wiradjuri history of the Gundagai area; Brungle Mission; blanket distributions; Yarri and Jacky rescued local people in the Gundagai Floods on 25 June 1852; two poems about Yarri p. 6, 7; Old Marvellous p. 2, 4-5; mentions passing Googeedee Aboriginal School.
