Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'The Proud Old Name' is a compelling tale of adventure and heritage set against the vivid backdrop of early 20th-century Mexico. Written by C.E. Scoggins, a master of regional atmosphere and rugged storytelling, the narrative explores the intersections of American ambition and deep-seated local traditions. Through sharp dialogue and evocative descriptions of the Mexican terrain, the author brings to life a world where reputation is everything and the past is never truly buried. Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'The Red Gods Call' is a gripping adventure novel that captures the restless spirit of exploration and the magnetic pull of the unknown. Set against the lush and perilous landscapes of Central America, the story follows a protagonist drawn away from the mundane comforts of civilization by the primal allure of the wild-the titular 'Red Gods.' As he journeys into the heart of the jungle, he encounters a world of danger, ancient mysteries, and unexpected romance.Charles Elbert Scoggins masterfully blends atmospheric prose with fast-paced action, reflecting the early 20th-century fascination with rugged individualism and the exotic frontier. The narrative explores themes of masculinity, duty, and the transformative power of nature, as the characters navigate both the physical challenges of the terrain and the internal conflicts of their own desires. A classic example of the adventure genre, 'The Red Gods Call' remains a compelling testament to the timeless human urge to seek out what lies beyond the horizon. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
