Pencil inscription to front endpaper. Notable cracking to gutters, with exposed binding. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Mild sunning to spine, which has mild crushing and wear to ends. Notable scratching and marking to boards. Book has forward lean. Boards are mildly warped. Mild water stains and droplets to surfaces.

Original Cloth. Zustand: Good. First Edition. The book appears to have been in some kind of lending library although there are no stamps or labels on it. The front panel of the boards has a four inch by two inch patch of label residue at the bottom and a few light stains. The spine has some edge rubbing and fraying at the top and bottom and there is rubbing and fraying to the corners. There is some discolouration to the rear panel. Page edges browned with some spotting. The front free-endpapers has been stuck to the front pastedown. Some of the pages have ragged edges with small pieces missing where they have been separated roughly and there is a little spotting and staining here and there but the pages are generally unmarked. No jacket. First printing.

Some rubbing to the edges of the boards with a little at the top and bottom of the spine and the corners. One small stain near the centre of the rear panel. Page edges browned with a little spotting. Endpapers browned with some spotting to the front endpapers but the pages are otherwise unmarked. The jacket has a three inch by two inch triangular piece missing from the bottom of the rear panel. The spine has a half-inch piece missing at the top and there is some chipping at the corners and some rubbing to the edges.
