Hardcover. Zustand: Good. 23.5 x 15.5 cm. 255pp. Glossy illustrated boards. There is some wrinkling/damp staining noticable to the bottom of the last ~ 50 pages. This does not effect readability. Fun inscription from one of the editors, Douglas Ming: ' "Rocky Ranger" alias stac Ming I tried to include a chapter entitled "Fly Fishing on the Moon" but the publisher would not let me. Thanks for all of the help and support through the years. Love Doug "Zeke". P.S. On to the Moon, then Mars; however, we need to do some serious flyfishing in Colorado first!! - 12/25/89" Scientists grew plants from moon soil for the first time in 2022. From NASA: This work provides information on research and experimentation concerning various aspects of food production in space and particularly on the moon. Options for human settlement of the moon and Mars and strategies for a lunar base are discussed. The lunar environment, including the mineralogical and chemical properties of lunar regolith are investigated and chemical and physical considerations for a lunar-derived soil are considered. It is noted that biological considerations for such a soil include controlled-environment crop production, both hydroponic and lunar regolith-based; microorganisms and the growth of higher plants in lunar-derived soils; and the role of microbes to condition lunar regolith for plant cultivation. Current research in the controlled ecological life support system (CELSS) project is presented in detail and future research areas, such as the growth of higher research plants in CELSS are considered. Optimum plant and microbiological considerations for lunar derived soils are examined.

Soltis ; Isozymes, discovered in 1987 by Hunter and Markert, have proved to be one ot he most fruitful areas of biological research in recent years. The present volume brings together contributions by key researchers in the field. This survey of current knowledge and practice emphasizes the possibilities of isozymes as marker genes in solving a variety of problems important to population geneticists, evolutionists, systematists and plant breeders ; name on front endpaper, nick on dustjacket, else FINE/VG.
