Bekannt ist Carpeneto heute wie damals wegen seines Weinanbaus. Im Mittelalter stand die Commune Carpeneto unter verschiedenen Herrschaftseinflüssen, vorwiegend unter der Herrschaft von Mailand, Florenz oder Genua. Die Statuten der Stadt Carpeneto sind im Jahre 1458 erstellt worden, sie sind in 142 Rubriken unterteilt. Hauptsächlich wird die Gerichts- und Verfahrensordnung dargestellt und das Kriminalrecht. Auch sind einige zivilrechtliche Abschnitte vorzufinden, sei es im Erbrecht: De solvendo legata et fideicommissa in testamento, im Eherecht: De dotibus restituendis, De non contrahendo matrimonio cum aliquo alexandrino oder De alimentis uxoris, oder auch im allgemeinen Vertragsrecht: De contractu seu obligatione. Wie in allen Stadtstatuten wird auch der administrative Aufbau der Stadt in den statuten dargestellt und geregelt. Es folgen noch Anmerkungen zu einzelnen Rubriken des Statuts, verfasst vom Herausgeber Ferraro. Es schließen sich an vier Documenti inediti aus dem 14., 16. und 18. Jahrhundert.
