There were over forty instances of alledged misconduct that the Select Committee considered. The committee set forth to analyze the charges, to investigate the charges, and to hold hearings where the committee could present witnesses and documentary evidence for the purpose of placing on record, for later use by the Senate, the evidence and other information gathered during the preliminary investigation period.
