Zustand: New. Its pages hold not only the lyrical ballads of a distinct era but also expressions of the author's deepest thoughts and emotions as he traveled through the rugged but awe-inspiring landscapes of the American frontier. Framed against the broader backdrop of the nation's development, the collection unpacks themes of ambition, desolation, and the profound connection between people, time, and the untamed wilderness. Readers will find themselves immersed in a literary time capsule that will resonate long after its stories of lost love, triumphant struggles, and the compelling spirit of a bygone time have been read. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

The poems span a wide range of styles and themes, but all are united by their shared love of the Golden State. Some of the poems celebrate California's natural beauty, from its towering mountains to its sun -kissed beaches. Others explore the state's rich history and culture, from the days of the Gold Rush to the present day. Still others reflect on the challenges and triumphs of life in California, from the struggles of immigrants to the joys of family and community. Throughout the anthology, the author explores the diverse and multifaceted nature of California, capturing its essence in all its complexity and beauty. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. "Published for the Benefit of the Youth's Directory" "The Youths' Directory is a temporary home for friendless and abused boys between the ages of 7 and 14 years. It was founded on Howard street, near Third, in 1886. One year later Rev. D. C. Crowley took charge and soon secured the necessary funds with which to erect a four-story building on a lot situated between Seventeenth and Eighteenth streets on Howard. Many merchants and professional men will attest as to the character of the boys they are fortunate enough in securing from the directory. The fact that they are not permitted to go out at night makes them in great demand. This applies to the free employment bureau connected with the institution, through which many boys up to 16 years of age secure positions during the year. " (from Wikipedia).
