The recipes are French-based with ingredients in British measure. A very good collection of recipes dating from the 1930s with a chapter on game, as well as on curry; the meat pies and recipes for puddings seem quite good. There are 44 recipes for eggs and omelets alone. Here is the chef's method for killing lobster: :run a skewer or sharp knife into the spinal cord at the joint between the body and the tail shells.or tie the claws together and plunge it head first into a pan of absolutely boiling water."
