Praxitelis was a mid-4th C. Athenian sculptor. Only one of his works, Hermes Carrying the Infant Dionysus , survives. He is also noted for a statue of Aphrodite, of which there are only Roman copies left. A very thorough study, supported by line drawings, other illustrations, images of fragments, and photos of statues. VG, clean and bright interior but with art museum ex-lib. bookplate inside front cover, pencil notations on publication page, and pocket inside back cover. Covers worn and tanned at edges but still intact, with lib. sticker at lower spine. Binding a bit cocked. Generally quite good.

Folio, First Edition, text in French, with a fine coloured plate and numerous plates in monochrome; original portfolio with boards printed in red and black, cloth back with printed paper label, ribbon ties intact, a very good, bright, clean copy.
