Paperback. The follow-up to "Hey Fred! Nice Red Thread," the multi-award-winning promotional piece produced by Chris Sickles of Red Nose Studio. This piece was made in collaboration with the design firm Planet 10, the printer Quality Printing, and the Sappi paper company and features Sickles' artwork: figures made of painted clay and repurposed objects, photographed in narrative settings. It is in the form of a desk calendar (10/2005 - 12/2006) with a rotating ring of faces for the cover figure and a stand at the back. Each of 9 interior card sheets is cut into four sections: head, torso, and legs of a figure and a month of the year as the fourth section. On the back of each of the three figure sections is a phrase so by flipping the sections and mixing them up, one can create thousands of possible figures with a different story for each. The book is a tour-de-force showcase for Sickles' artwork: figures made of painted clay and repurposed objects, photographed in narrative settings, with nonsense rhymes by the artist. The cover is die-cut and silkscreen-printed and bound with sewn red thread. Many of the pages--French-folded, double sheets--are embossed, one is in braille, one spread has a pop-up, and at the back is a card figure that can be punched out and made to stand. The piece won over ten awards from the graphic design and arts communities including a "Best in Show" and a first place. SIGNED BY SICKLES on the first page, dated in 2004, and inscribed.
