Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. Paradise Life I wanted to get the message out that any addict could get clean, stop using drugs and find a new way to live. My personal life experience can be a living example to help educate the public that addiction is a humanistic disease from which the addict and family members suffer no matter what supportive opportunities are given. The disease of addiction is completely profound in the aspect that help can only be obtained through a miraculous process of Recovery otherwise known as Grace. I share about the horrors of my life and how wonderful my life has become today. In the spirit of recovery my contribution is exemplified by the selfless effort of helping other addicts find and achieve recovery. Today my goal is to help others unconditionally and to be a part of the solution rather than the problem. My understanding is my contribution will help alleviate the pain and suffering of addicts and those close to addicts by being exposed to this work of art. My motive was to bring to light the love and truth about the feelings of an addict who has found joy, happiness and freedom. This is the recovery revolution that is going on right now. - Chris Keeley CHAPTERS: 1) Dada to the Bone page 4 2) Stomach Pain Basilica page 7 3) The Disappointment page 10 4) Moment of Clarity page 12 5) Roads Not Safe page 20 6) All over the place page 23 7) Harassed but not arrested page 27 8) The Surgery Acute Care Lumbar Hemi-Laminestomy page 29 9) The Bear page 32 10) The Horseshoe page 34 11) Wild Duck page 36 12) The Leica Mishap page 38 13) The Wedding Present page 40 14) Suspicious Activity page 44 15) The Rolls Royce of Awareness page 47 16) A Pickle cant go back to being a Cucumber page 50 17) Awake and Alive page 55 18) Nine High Schools Without a Diploma page 62 19) Turquoise Sports Car Totaled by a Telephone Pole page 67 20) White Pipes, Weed, and the Wild Coast page 69 21) Going Ninety on Georgia Avenue page 71 22) Woke up in Swaziland instead of Switzerland page 73 23) Three Nasty Letters page 76 24) Three early traumatic events page 79 25) Madness in Rio page 81 26) The Victoria Falls Fiasco page 84 27) Blueblood Reminiscences page 88 28) My poisonous spider bite page 91 29) My First Date with Valerie page 93 30) Opium Dreams page 95 31) The Fire page 99 32) Annas Overdose page 101 33) God is laughing at me page 104 34) Davids Death page 106 35) The Malawi Incident page 110 36) The Biggest Blow to my Ego page 113 37) Hardest Laugh page 115 38) The Day I quit smoking for real page 117 39) The Third Instance of trouble was Thanksgiving weekend 1974, my first Acid Trip page 119 40) Three Instances of Trouble Part Two page 121 41) Three Instances of Trouble Part One page 123 42) A Story of Continual Denial page 124 43) Coincidences page 127 44) Journal September 1995 page 148 45) A Day in the life of an Addict page 153 Shipping may be from our Sydney, NSW warehouse or from our UK or US warehouse, depending on stock availability.…

Paperback. Zustand: New. Shelagh Keeley came to prominence in the 1980s and has a significant early body of work that is housed in numerous Canadian institutions and, given Keeley s 22-year residence in New York City, in most major American institutions. From very early on Keeley s drawings challenged the established art world with investigations into Africa, AIDS, health and the body. More recent work includes bookworks that serve as an archive of the artist s visual vocabulary during nearly three decades of practice. They record themes that have pervaded her practice: diversity, history, representation and that which is political and social. This monograph is the first critical assessment of Keeley's thirty-year career.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Addict Out of the Dark and into the Light I wanted to get the message out that any addict could get clean; stop using drugs and find a new way to live. Most every one was enthusiastic. I asked them to share about the horrors of their life and how wonderful their lives are today. In the spirit of recovery each contributor exemplified this selfless effort of helping other addicts find and achieve recovery. Each participant responded because they wanted to help and be a part of the solution rather than the problem. They understood that what they were doing would help alleviate the pain and suffering of addicts and those close to addicts by being exposed to this work. My motive was to bring to light the love and truth about the feelings of addicts and the recovery revolution that is going on right now. Christopher Keeley Keeley¿s photographs, which deal with the many facets of obsession, speak to the internal search many individuals undergo during the lifelong quest for meaning and self-awareness. Capturing pain, longing, torment, despair, hope, and love within the faces and forms of his images, Keeley draws on his own inner obsessive quest for knowledge as inspiration. His images are unsympathetic, and communicate the inner emotional trauma of the homeless, the addicted, and of the lonely, as well as pride and the strength of human bonding experienced by addicts in recovery. By revealing the essence of his subjects, the works magnify with often unsettling clarity the pain of discovery, joy of friendships born of pain, or turmoil of new journeys that resound within each person. Through these poignant images he challenges the viewer to look within one¿s own heart, to question, affirm, accept, or reject, leaving one with valuable insights into our own places in humanity. Kimberley Taylor Chris Keeley is a friend of mine. I have always looked to Chris as having the inclination and courage to capture his unique perception of reality with the shutter of his camera. Somehow, he goes ahead and does it. In 1987 when this work of art was started, I heard of this book from the years it took Chris to put it together. In my own experience, I had an interest in encouraging and helping bring to light the love and truth about the feelings of addicts and the recovery revolution that is going on right now. There is a genuine movement in the underground culture of drug addiction towards health, recovery and spiritual growth. Chris went to each person participating in this work and asked if they would help. Each one responded because they wanted to help. Initially, the photos in this book were to be exclusively nudes for the shock value and to set the reader in the intimate, touching frame of mind required to reach with the heart as well as the mind. Some of the participants balked at this and so allowances were made and Chris decided that even the form of having all subjects nude would just be another conformity. There is no final answer to addiction. With time a human being learns how much of life is real and how much is supposition. Personal truth at the level of daily living is the way out of this labyrinth. A snapshot can contain unintended truth. This book is a collection of photographic snapshots, along with written snapshots are in the form of verbatim transcripts. The participants were taped at the same time the photos were taken. The resulting composition is a picture at odds with prevailing perspectives on addiction and towards addicts. The darkness is the overlay of myth, fear and superstition that surround addicts and their disease. Addiction is the disease of lies hiding in darkness that allows the simple elements of need, deprivation and extremism to build and combine into seemingly insolvable obstacles. The truth is much simpler. The dark is a place of fear in much of the world. It symbolizes the u.…
