A significant report on the feasibility of a transafrican railway linking the banks of the Mediterranean to Soudan, with extensive description of the countries traversed. The second volume contains a short 30-page "notice" on the Sudanese Sahara by Capitaine Cortier, followed by a geological and hydrological report by MR Chudeau. Inserted at the rear of the second volume of 1925 is a large fold-out coloured map of the transafrican mission dated January-November 1912. Some discolouring to buff covers, and rough-cut pages have signs of foxing to outside page-edges. The third volume which consists of maps of the regions traversed is not present.
