No cartographer or publisher is indicated, but a note states "Boundaries are not necessarily those recognized by the US Government", suggesting perhaps the CIA or US Army. The sheet is undated, but follows Iraq's withdrawal from CENTO (March 1959) and precedes the creation of the UAE here labelled "Trucial Sheikdoms" and Bangladesh here labelled "Pakistan" (1971). Rare, with Worldcat listing similarly titled and sized editions dated 3-63 credited to CIA; 196-? credited to Washington DC (ie, US Government); and c1969.

No author or publisher is indicated, but this was produced by the CIA. A note stating "Boundary representation is not necessarily authoritative", would be referring to boundaries labeled as "de facto" between Saudi and UAE, and Syria and Iraq; "no defined boundary" between Saudi and Yemen, and UAE and Oman; "Admin Boundary" between Egypt and Sudan; and "Prov. Admin. Line" between Ethiopia and Somalia. Near fine with centrefold. The CIA issued and updated this map at various points during the 1980s and 90s. These kinds of maps were produced to provide supporting information in internal US Government briefings.

Dated 9-66 in the code. Not indicated as such, but this is a CIA map. These kinds of maps were produced to provide supporting information in internal US Government briefings. For example, a b/w version of this one was attached to a declassified memo from James Schlesinger to Henry Kissinger dated 12 March 1973, briefing him on the problem of Soviet influence in Iraq and Southern Arabia, and the rebellion in Oman. Details include international boundaries with the qualification "boundary representation is not necessarily authoritative" and many of which in the Peninsula not yet defined, capitals and other main settlements including the 7 Trucial Sheikhdoms and Buraimi, railroads, surfaced and unsurfaced roads or tracks, and the Neutral Zones.
