Zustand: Fine in a clear mylar cover. reprint. 8vo. 193pp. Original was 1881. Verso states edition limited to 300 numbered. copies, but this copy is not numbered.

B/w plates after paintings and photographs. Green cloth, upper board titled in gilt. Cloth quite stained & used, end-papers browned. A good working copy. The author's name is often given (e.g. by Google Books and other online resources) as Clements, however we have seen a letter from him, signed 'L. Clement ("Wildfowler").' It is known that he was French, so it seems likely that he anglicized Louis Clement to Lewis Clement or Clements. Not in Jones or Chute. Clement was the founder and first editor of the Shooting Times but was an inveterate fraudster, eventually (in 1906 at the age of 62) serving three years penal servitude for many cases of taking money for dogs which he never subsequently supplied. .

Hardbound. Zustand: Good. 268 pages. Good plus copy, with top inch of rear outer joint rubbed, owner bookplate inside front board. Tight copy.

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. Two brown hardcover volumes with black decorations and gilt titles on spines. Edges show light wear with light bumping to corners and wear to sides of spines. Volume 1's spine is darkened and has a crease. SEE PHOTOS. The pages are clean, tight and unmarked, edges are lightly tanned. The books are split into the three listed topics. 279 + 268 pages.

Cloth - Hard Cover. Zustand: Fair. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: No Dust Jacket. First Edition. 307 & 313 pages, plus ads. Private library book plate on front paste down. Ink stamp of a masonic lodge is seen on the upper edge of the text block. Slight wear on spine where a small library sticker was removed. The head of both spines show wear. Tails and corners are creased and rubbed. Blank front free end leaf of Volume I has been torn out, and there is a large open tear at the top of the same leaf in Volume II. Both volume remains fairly tight and otherwise clean.

Bound in dark brown cloth with ornate black embossed borders and gilt title on the spines, spine thinning at edge of Vol 1, small holes appearing and some wear to heads and tails of the spines, also these faded and dull, original canary yellow endpapers, woodcut in the text of volume 1, some occasional foxing, uncut edges, minor wear at corners, mostly clean untouched copy. Octavo 20 x 14 cm. *Great chapters on dog training, with pheasant, partridge and duck shooting, The Thames, Northern France and shore shooting, Training night dogs and French Bassets, Beagles, Coursing, Buying and selling dogs, preventative of Hydrophobia, Boar and Wolf Hunting, French Wolf Hounds, Algerian Greyhounds, Continental Pointers and Setters, and ends with 10 chapters on Sea-Fishing trips.

Pearce Way on front paste down. An extremely scarce title. A guide giving details of locality, availability of shooting, quarry that may be encountered, directions, hotels, shoot owners etc., Not listed in Chute. Riling or Gerrare, only 3 copies located in UK libraries.
