Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing undated hardcover in red paper covered boards with gold title and wide-brimmed western hat illustration on backstrip. Small capital letter A at the foot of the half title page. Tips and spine ends bumped but not rubbed. 208 pp text is tight but coffee stained and with a 1/4" burn mark on page 108, over the Ten in Chapter Ten that shows backwards to pages 106 and 107. Hinge papers are fine. This is an exlib with tape marks and sticker pulls on outer layer of red paper covering the boards, ink numbers written on fep, stamp and number on frt pastedown, sticker pull on rear pastedown along with a large coffee spill stain that hits the corners of some of the pages. Solid working copy, all there but not pretty. Original color illustrated dust jacket is the best part of this book. It has a vivid illustration of a cowboy galloping through a western town shooting his pistol to someone at his left side while his left hand holds the reins. Art wraps around to the backstrip and has a 1/4" fold lines at top and bottom edges of entire jacket. The library had folded the jacket ends under for some unknown reason. Rear flap has been trimmed so some of the left ends of the sentences of the blurb written there are clipped off. Same thing on frt flap, and there is an irregular tear at head of frt flap took the author's name and part of the other books he's written there. Price still present at foot of frt flap. Backstrip of dj has 1/3 of the title gone from a chip and the top half of the E in the title missing on frt panel. Still displays ok in new mylar.…

Quite a rare title, First edition, first printing hardcover in red paper covered boards with black title and wide-brimmed western hat illustration on backstrip. Spine ends and lower tips bumped but not rubbed, upper tips still sharp. Foot of spine is darkened 1/2 from foot due to a matching clip at foot of dj backstrip. Hinge papers fine, occasional light foxing on endpprs. 190 pp text is tight and bright. Unclipped color illustrated dust wrapper has two short chips at head of spine, one irregular triangular chip at foot of frt panel taking half of the ON in Stetson and most of the CO in Cody plus the chip at foot of spine. Two short closed tears on either end of moderately surface soiled rear panel. Still displays well in new mylar. DJ spine and front panel shows a mountain scene with one cowboy on a black horse, shooting the pistol out of the hand of the cowboy on the chestnut horse opposite him while the woman in the long blue dress on horseback watches them from a distance. In this powerfully written drama of the Western ranges the creator of that popular character, Cactus Clancy, presents his readers with a mystery set against the sea of bluestem grass known as Rawhide Range. Again Stetson Cody notches a thrilling success to his growing list of range sagas.…

Spine ends and upper tips bumped but not rubbed, lower tips still sharp. An occasional light fingerprint in margins and several library stamps throughout the 160 pp text. Unclipped color illustrated dust wrapper has small rubs at spine ends/corner of backstrip and panels and a hint of color loss at this same corner: where backstrip meets up with frt and rear panels but the jacket displays beautifully in new mylar . DJ shows a good looking dark haired cowboy who just lost his hat, riding a chestnut horse with both of his pistols blazing. When Wash Taylor died, there were hard-eyed men who considered that a two-timing crook had been executed. However, the dead man kept a close-guarded secret beyond the grave, and Cactus Jim Clancy had to solve a curious mystery before he could bring happiness into the life of lovely Lynn Chancy. This is Stetson Cody's latest novel featuring his popular Cactus Clancy, dispenser of justice in a wild land where the fastest gun either upheld or shattered the law. …
