The work is further enhanced by facsimiles of contemporary despatches, adding valuable primary-source material to the detailed casualty listings. The campaigns covered include the Defence and Relief of Chitral (1895), Punjab Frontier (1897-98), Malakand (1897), Samana (1897), Tirah (1897-98), and Waziristan (1901-02). By bringing together casualty information from these widely documented frontier campaigns in a single volume, Farrington provides an important resource for medal researchers, military historians and collectors seeking to identify and understand the service and experiences of individual recipients.A specialised and useful reference, this is an essential addition to any serious library covering the India General Service Medal and the campaigns of the North-West Frontier.
