The rich textures of that sound continue today, emanating from beneath the sidewalk grating, to anonymously reach an individual's ears as if one has stumbled upon a se…cret. Known as Times Square, the celebrated installation was restored in 2002 with support from Dia Art Foundation, which further commissioned a site-specific piece, Time Piece Beacon, from Neuhaus in 2006 for its museum in Beacon, New York. This stunning book-the only volume in print dedicated solely to the work of Neuhaus-takes these two projects as a point of departure from which to consider the singular impact this artist has had in establishing sound as a medium in contemporary art. An interview with Neuhaus is complemented with essays by multidisciplinary scholars who investigate and situate his work within a historical context. Distributed for Dia Art Foundation.

Zutis, Preface, Written by the Public Administrator of New York County who supervised the search for Ida Woods true identity in order to ward off the thousands of claims to her fortune .HER HUSBAND WAS PUBLISHER OF NY DAILY NEWS, & HIS BROTHER WAS MAYOR OF NYC, in 1860 IDA danced with the Prince of Wales Albert Edward (and future King), and met Abraham Lincoln IN 1861. After she died on March 12, 1932, of bronchial pneumonia, at the age of 94, no fewer than 1103 claimants squabbled over her estate. AT THE HERALD SQUARE HOTEL WHERE THEY LIVED IDA requested Copenhagen snuff, Havana cigars and jars of petroleum jelly, which Ida massaged onto her face for several hours each day. She was five feet tall and 70 pounds, Her complexion, in spite of her age, was as creamy and pink and unwrinkled as any I have ever seen. It was like tinted ivory. Her profile was like a lovely cameo. AFTER HER DEATH In an old box of stale crackers they discovered a diamond. Signed by Author(s).

Theodore Taylor's 1864 biography of Thackeray mentions the history of the book: "A fine and skillful landscape painter himself, M. Marvy, while here, as a means of earning a living, made a series of engravings after the works of our English landscape painters. The publishers, however, would not undertake the work without a series of letter-press notices of each picture from Thackeray; and the latter accordingly added some criticisms which are interesting as developing his theory of this kind of art" (p.32).
