Some wear to extremities, including corners and flyleaves darkened with crease on front flyleaf; otherwise a very good copy with a clean interior. Signature on first free endpaper. Illustrated by 21 plates paginated in text, including frontispiece, in colour with captioned tissue guards, and in black and white and by 16 text figures. An examination of mural and ceiling interior decoration, largely illustrated by reference to the Italian masters. A chapter at the end looks at modern work. John Diblee Crace (1838-1919) was a renowned interior decoration whose work included the National Gallery, the British Museum, the Royal Academy and Longleat House.
