The integration of these concepts has significantly impacted the rationale of the research foci and therefore lies at the heart of this pioneering study that connects pluriliteracies with English language teaching and learning in a primary school in China.In order to investigate the potential role of visuals in English language learning classrooms, this study was conducted by designing and teaching visual-related thematic content to three small groups of English younger learners in China and interviewing them using their own preferred online platform. Participants were encouraged to create visuals, for example, drawings to demonstrate their thinking of abstract conceptual knowledge and scaffold their communication with peers and the teacher-researcher. Such integration of visual creation with language learning is facilitated by learner-teacher Learning Conversations constructing a shared learning space owned and led by learners, which may offer a clear steer in the direction of promoting learner agency and achieving the quality of learning, thereby complementing traditional ways of teaching in China and beyond.Emphasised by research and studies regarding pedagogies for ¿quality¿ and ¿successful¿ learning (Coyle & Meyer, 2017), the long-established means of measuring learning using tests and examinations may not be sufficient for building learners¿ sense of achievement and agentic mindset to direct their own learning. La presente investigacion tiene como objetivo el analisis de la imagen de China en los medios espanoles (prensa, television) en diversos periodos de diversa duracion. Se combinan periodos largos (diez anos en prensa), con periodos medios (6 anos en TV) y finalmente algunos hechos puntuales que han aparecido en los medios espanoles (el bloqueo de cuentas bancarias BBVA, la situacion de los estudiantes chinos, el caso de la imagen de Huawei con el fondo de las luchas arancelarias China-USA, las promociones de China en El Corte Ingles, etc.) El objetivo principal es analizar la imagen de China en los medios espanoles y como se ha visto condicionada por circunstancias externas y estereotipos persistentes.Todos estos casos nos sirven para realizar un analisis desde el "Brand Nation" combinado con el estudio de los estereotipos y framing mediatico o de las formas de enunciacion de China como sujeto mediatico. Para todo ello se ha recurrido al concepto de representacion social (Moscovici) y su circulacion mediatica.Los hallazgos muestran que la imagen de China esta fuertemente condicionada por factores externos, especialmente los conflictos economicos con Estados Unidos. Se identificaron estereotipos recurrentes, desde el "peligro amarillo" hasta el "competidor amenazante". Estos estereotipos se perpetuan a traves de la circulacion mediatica y limitan la capacidad de China de construir una imagen mas cercana a su realidad contemporanea. China es percibida desde distintos puntos de vista, desde la percepcion como potencia economica a los topicos mostrados en los reportajes de la television, que muestran aspectos exoticos o de una China inexistente, cuya imagen se sigue construyendo con esos estereotipos antiguos. El analisis muestra la variabilidad de la imagen de China en los medios espanoles del periodo del 2008 al 2019, que es el analizado.Tras el analisis detallado del amplio corpus, la conclusion general es la debilidad de la voz china para construir una imagen exterior que sea capaz de deshacerse de los topicos con los que ha sido descrita en el tiempo. La comunicacion internacional tiene una profunda asimetria en la representacion y en la construccion del otro, en este caso, de China en Occidente, especialmente en Espana, donde todavia no se abre un campo especifico. Los medios estan muchas veces mas interesados en repetir aspectos estereotipados sobre China que transmitir una imagen mas cercana a los cambios producidos en las ultimas decadas.
