Has some creases and chipping along the edges, a 3" by 1" piece is missing from the back, top right corner and a 3/4" by 1" piece from the bottom of the spine. No text on spine appears to be missing. Illustration on dj front is intact.Interior is lightly soiled and unmarked with b/w illustrations throughout. Three real stories of real foxhounds from a father and his two sons. 59 pages. Dust jacket separated along spine which has paper loss of bottom 10cm and top 4cm; soiled and toned panels and flaps mostly intact but still with chipping particularly at corners; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Off-white cloth with some staining/soiling to boards; gilt stamped dog vignette at front board center and spine's gilt stamping all remain fairly bright. Dark purple top edge; light foxing to fore-edge and bottom edge; occasional foxing spots to interior pages. Binding is firm. A very good copy in only a fair dust jacket. Features three fox-hunting reminiscences: "The Stranger" by Marcellus L. Davis, "Tate's Band" by Henry P. Davis, and "E-String" by C.T. Davis - Charles T. Davis. With a Foreword by renowned Tennessee outdoor writer and columnist Nash Buckingham. Dardanelle, Arkansas native Marcellus L. Davis served as American consul general to the British West Indies during President Grover Cleveland's administration and was also judge of the Arkansas fifth judicial circuit. The book's other two contributors were the judge's sons - Henry Davis was a newspaper and magazine columnist/editor as well as secretary of the American Wildlife Institute and Charles Davis was Arkansas poet laureate from 1923 to 1945.
