From de Beauplan's explanatory note: "Bien que la Princesse Lointaine ait ete creee il y a pres de trente-cinq ans et que son edition en volume se trouve en bonne place dans presques toutes les bibliotheques de lettres, c'est un texte en grand mesure inedit que la Petite Illustration a la bonne fortune de publier aujourd'hui, en meme temps que le theatre de Sarah-Bernhardt le revele au public parisien."
