Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. Max de Rham (illustrator). 1st Edition. pp: 176. The book concerns the search for, and discovery of, The Nanking Cargo. The cargo, lost in 1746 when a dutch trading ship ran aground, consisted of more than 239,000 pieces; Chinese porcelain, textiles, tea, lacquerware, and gold pieces. The author relied on information from the investigation recorded and kept in The Nethelands, forgotten, for more almost 250 years. Subsequently, the find was auctioned at Christie's in The Netherlands. There were 12,000 catalogues printed for the sale. This is a near fine copy in a near fine dust jacket. The jacket is protected with a Brodart cover.
