Red felt tip ink mark (likely publisher's remainder mark) on bottom edge adjacent to spine. Interior pages are clean. Binding is firm. Else a fine copy in a near fine dust jacket. With wood engraving illustrations by John DePol. This being a trade edition of limited edition issued by the Red Ozier Press in 1983 with the text being having been written in 1926 originally intended to be part of Faulkner's novel THE HAMLET but re-worked as the 1931 short story "Spotted Horses." Dark-black-ink wood engravings by John DePol. An "old soldier" is a plug of chewing tobacco.
