Hardback. Zustand: Good. Afraid her sister (and maybe even herself) could lose sight of their Vietnamese identity, twelve-year-old Bom writes a poetic memoir to help them both remember--a love letter in verse to sisterhood and the places we leave behind. Bom can't believe that her sister doesn't see herself as Vietnamese, only American. She says she doesn't remember Vietnam or their lives there, their family there, their house and friends. How could her sister forget the terrible journey through Saigon and the airplanes and. everything? And what about Bom? She remembers now, but how long will she keep her memories? She always found comfort in the sound of her father's typewriter Clickity-clack, clickity-clack. So she has an idea. She'll write down all that she can remember: the time when her father was a spy, when her mother was nicknamed a "radio", when they were so hungry Bom couldn't walk well, when the family all said goodbye. Bom will even tell her sister, and herself, about what it was like moving to Tennessee. The ESL classes, bullies, strange new foods, icy weather, friendships, and crushes--and how her family worked to keep their heritage alive. She'll type one poem at a time, until they'll never forget again.…

Hardback. Zustand: Good. After a wild plan by his parents left Jack stranded in the Caribbean, the Berenson family decided to lay out some rules. Jack's mom and dad agreed they wouldn't take so many risks. Jack agreed he'd try to live life without worrying quite so much. Then Jack's parents thought up another get-rich-quick scheme. Now the family's driving around Kenya. An animal attack is about to send Jack up a tree―alone, with limited supplies. As Jack attempts to outsmart a ferocious honey badger and keep away from an angry elephant, he'll have plenty of time to wonder if the Berenson Family Decision-Making Rules did enough to keep him out of trouble. Paperback. Zustand: Good. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, while governments, politicians, and entrepreneurs argued about the boundary between northern New England and British Canada, a group of hardy individuals were otherwise occupied, carving a life in the wooded frontier that would come to be known as Indian Stream. The Treaty of Paris ending the American Revolution set the US boundary at the northwesternmost head of the Connecticut River, but with three streams feeding into that head, conflict was inevitable. For nearly 60 years residents of this wild northern outpost were caught in a dispute that ren-dered both land titles and international boundaries uncertain. As squabbling increased among the US, Canada, New Hampshire legislators, and two companies claiming land rights, the settlers decided to take matters into their own hands. In 1832, they declared themselves the independent Indian Stream Republic, establishing a constitution, a bicameral legislature, courts, laws, and a militia. But New Hampshire and Canada were not impressed. The state tried to enforce its laws, the jurisdictional battle escalated, the Indian Stream militia invaded Canada, and bloodthough only a trickle -- was shed.…

Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. "A delicious daydream of a book." --Elin Hilderbrand, New York Times bestselling author of 28 Summers "With lyrical writing and a page-turning plot, this sun-dappled book has it all." --Karen Dukess, author of The Last Book Party ONE ICONIC FAMILY. ONE SUMMER OF SECRETS. THE DAZZLING SPIRIT OF 1970S CALIFORNIA. For Jackie Pierce, everything changed the summer of 1979, when she spent three months of infinite freedom at her bohemian uncle's sprawling estate on the California coast. As musicians, artists, and free spirits gathered at The Sandcastle for the season in pursuit of inspiration and communal living, Jackie and her cousin Willa fell into a fast friendship, testing their limits along the rocky beach and in the wild woods. until the summer abruptly ended in tragedy, and Willa silently slipped away into the night. Twenty years later, Jackie unexpectedly inherits The Sandcastle and returns to the iconic estate for a short visit to ready it for sale. But she reluctantly extends her stay when she learns that, before her death, her estranged aunt had promised an up-and-coming producer he could record a tribute album to her late uncle at the property's studio. As her musical guests bring the place to life again with their sun-drenched beach days and late-night bonfires, Jackie begins to notice startling parallels to that summer long ago. And when a piece of the past resurfaces and sparks new questions about Willa's disappearance, Jackie must discover if the dark secret she's kept ever since is even the truth at all. *Don't miss Amy Mason Doan's next novel, The California Dreamers, available now to preorder! Paperback. Zustand: Good. "Fantastic. Wistful, mysterious, sparkling with secrets. I raced through Summer Hours in a day!" --Meg Donohue, USA Today bestselling author "A dreamy, nostalgic tale full of wisdom and heart. I love this book." --Andrea Dunlop, author of She Regrets Nothing   Five summers. A secret love. One sparkling reunion. Thirty-three-year-old Becc Reardon has tried hard to forget the all-consuming relationship that upended her life one summer in college. But when a mutual friend's wedding means road-tripping up the California coast with a man from the past, she can't resist one last chance at a reunion. From gorgeous beaches to quaint hotels, each stop along the way is a reminder of their memories together--the infinite nights at bonfires, the sneaky midday movie sessions. And soon enough, Becc is happily speeding beside the ocean waves with the funny, adventurous person she used to love and wondering what the future holds beyond the weekend. But when the pair unexpectedly arrive at the location of their long-ago flameout, old heartbreaks flood back, and Becc will have to decide if those dazzling hours they once shared are worth fighting for before the trip ends and they're lost forever. Set in the mid '90s and 2008, Summer Hours is about love, female coming of age, the power of nostalgia, and what happens when you realize you haven't become the person you'd always promised to be. *Don't miss Amy Mason Doan's next novel, The California Dreamers, available now for preorder!
