The genus Armiger Voet, 1778 sensu Quentin & Villiers, 1981 is revisited. The genus Armiger Voet, 1778 is proved to be non-valid and this name sensu Quentin & Villiers is confirmed to be a junior homonym of Armiger Hartmann (Mollusc). A replacement name, Rugosophysis nom. nov., is proposed for this Prioninae genus. Rugosophysis grassator (Quentin & Villiers, 1981 nec Voet 1778) com. nov. and R. hudepohli (Quentin & Villier, 1981) comb. nov. are re-described, and three new species and a new subspecies are described. A revision of the genus Calicnemis Laporte, 1832 (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Dynastinae), based on the examination of 480 specimens, including the typical material is presented. The genus Calicnemis includes species restricted to the sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast and the western part of the Mediterranean. The habitus of many specimens of all taxa, including all types and all escamined localities for each taxon is illustrated. Data on the morphology of eggs and larvae, on the natural history and the ecology of this genus also provided. In addition, a key to the taxa, and a comprehensive list of publications of the genus Calicnemis are proposed. In this revision, we have combined a classic morphological study with a genetic analysis involving DNA barcoding to identify unequivocally the existence of three different taxa within the genus Calicnemis. After the combination of these two complementary studies, we are able to establish that the genus Calicnemis is composed of two species, C. latreillei Laporte, 1832 and C. obesa (Erichson, 1841), the latter being composed of two sub-species, the nominotypical subspecies one and C. obesa sardiniensis Leo, 1985 comb. nov. We confirm the spelling Calicnemis latreillei Laporte, 1832 to use for the genus and its type-species. Two synonymies previously established, Calicnemis atlantica Mosconi, 1996 and Calicnemis bercedoi López-Colón, 2004 = Calicnemis obesa (Erichson, 1841), are confirmed. Calicnemis bahilloi López-Colón, 2003 is recognized as a new synonym for Calicnemis obesa (Erichson, 1841). A neotype is designated for Calicnemis latreillei and a lectotype for Colorhinus obesus Erichson, 1841, and a lectotype for Pachypus truncatifrons Dufour, 1850. Une révision du genre Calicnemis Laporte, 1832 (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Dynastinae), dont les espèces sont inféodées aux plages de sable des côtes atlantiques et de la Méditerranée occidentale, est présentée, fondée sur l'examen d'environ 480 spécimens incluant tous les types. L'habitus de nombreux exemplaires de tous les taxons, y compris les types, est illustré ainsi que de toutes les localités examinées pour chaque taxon. Des données sur la morphologie des ufs et des larves, sur l'histoire naturelle et l'écologie sont fournies. Egalement, une clé des taxons est présentée ainsi qu'une liste complète des publications relatives au genre Calicnemis. Dans cette révision, nous combinons l'étude morphologique comparative et l'analyse génétique par "Barcode ADN" dans le but d'établir, sans équivoque, l'existence de trois taxons distincts dans le genre Calicnemis. Suite à cette combinaison de l'étude morphologique et de l'analyse génétique à l'aide du gène COI, le genre Calicnemis apparaît constitué par deux espèces, C. latreillei Laporte, 1832 et C. obesa (Erichson, 1841), celle-ci avec deux sous-espèces, la nominotypique et C. obesa sardiniensis Leo, 1985 comb. nov. L'écriture Calicnemis latreillei Laporte, 1832 est confirmée correcte pour le genre et son espèce-type. Deux synonymies établies antérieurement, Calicnemis atlantica Mosconi, 1996 & Calicnemis bercedoi López-Colón, 2004 = Calicnemis obesa (Erichson, 1841), sont confirmées. Calicnemis bahilloi López-Colón, 2003 est reconnu comme nouveau synonyme de Calicnemis obesa (Erichson, 1841). Un néotype est désigné pour Calicnemis latreillei, ainsi qu'un lectotype pour Colorhinus obesus Erichson, 1841 et un lectotype pour Pachypus truncatifrons Dufour, 1850. Se presenta una revisión del género Calicnemis Laporte, 1832 (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Dynastinae), que comprende especies infeodadas a las playas arenosas de las costas del océano atlántico y las del mar mediterráneo occidental, basada en el exámen de alrededor de 480 especímenes, incluyendo todos los tipos. Se ilustran los habitus de numerosos ejemplares de todos los táxones, incluyendo el de todos los tipos y se mencionan todas las localidades conocidas para cada taxon, así como datos de la morfología de huevos y larvas, datos sobre la historia natural y la ecología. Igualmente, se presenta una clave para los táxones, así como un listado completo de publicaciones relativas al género Calicnemis. En ésta Revisión hemos combinado el estudio morfológico comparado con el análisis genético mediante el Barcode ADN con objeto de delimitar, sin equívocos, la existencia de tres táxones distintos en el género Calicnemis. Tras la combinación del estudio morfológico y del análisis genético mediante el gen COI se propone que el género Calicnemis esté compuesto por dos especies, C. latreillei Laporte, 1832 y C. obesa (Erichson, 1841), ésta con dos subespecies, la nominotípica y C. obesa sardiniensis Leo, 1985 comb. nov. Se confirma como correcta la grafía Calicnemis latreillei Laporte 1832 para el género y su especie-tipo. Dos sinonimias anteriormente establecidas Calicnemis atlantica Mosconi, 1996 y Calicnemis bercedoi López-Colón, 2004 = Calicnemis obesa (Erichson, 1841) son confirmadas. Calicnemis bahilloi López-Colón, 2003 es reconocido como un nuevo sinónimo de Calicnemis obesa (Erichson, 1841).
