Zustand: Very Good. Limited Edition. 80 pp. Black cloth over black paper-covered boards with gilt-stamped spine; housed in the original slipcase. Slipcase shows tanning to the spine and light rubbing to the edges, consistent with age. The book's black cloth binding exhibits faint surface rubbing and minor shelf wear to the extremities. Internally Fine; the text block is remarkably crisp, clean, and tight with all illustrations on colored paper stocks present and vivid. Signed by illustrator W.A. Dwiggins, no. 333 of 1,200. Includes an inscription from a previous owner that reads: "A Valentine for Mary. 2/14/31. From an old admirer." Designed and illustrated by the legendary W.A. Dwiggins (William Addison Dwiggins) and printed by the Pynson Printers. This landmark of 20th-century book design features Dwiggins' iconic Art Deco illustrations, some of which are printed on vibrant, contrasting colored papers. This special edition also includes a facsimile of a sheet of Stevenson's manuscript inserted inside. This copy is Numbered 333 of 1,200 and is Signed by W.A. Dwiggins on the colophon at the rear. A premier example of fine press bookmaking from the early Random House catalog. . W.A. Dwiggins (illustrator). Signed.
