This 1937 edition of A Grammar of Chinese Lattice was issued in two volumes as part of the Harvard-Yenching Institute Monograph Series and is 31 cm in height. The 1949 Harvard University Press reissue was published as a single volume and is listed at 26 cm. Because the later printing combines the material into a smaller format, the illustrations appear at a reduced scale relative to the 1937 layout. The two editions also differ in their bibliographic context: the 1937 printing represents the work in its original two-volume monograph-series form, while the 1949 version is a standalone reissue. Paged continuously, 469 pages total. Hundreds of line drawings. Previous owner's signature in each volume. Blue cloth covers are worn and a bit battered. Bottom corner of vol. 2 bumped, affecting text block. Some toning and mild foxing. Cloth frayed and torn at top and bottom of spine. Lacks the dust jackets.
