It is illustrated with black and white photos (including frontispiece) and there is a fold-out map to the rear. Near fine minus condition. No dedications etc. In very good pictorial dust jacket with coilour image of a river with bridge and trees and blue titles to front. The jacket has slightly tanned edges and spine. The edges are not damaged. It is unclipped. A neat and tidy copy.

Although, as her book shows, the part he played in the history of his time was of supreme importance, this is the first full-length biography of him to have been written. On the death of Henry V, Bedford became Regent of France on behalf of his nephew Henry VI, then only an infant of nine months. As a general, Bedford showed remarkable qualities, winning on the battlefield of Verneuil a victory as great as Agincourt. As a diplomat his gifts were even more outstanding - his negotiation of the Treaty of Amiens in 1423, which bound the Dukes of Burgundy and Brittany to the English alliance, was brilliant. This book, 300 pages, is fine condition in a fine dust jacket that is now enclosed in a protective mylar wrap.
