As part of the application process veterans could include a narrative of their experiences. While not all soldiers did, there were a few that included their experiences. Dann's book includes six narratives/eye witness accounts of the Revolutionary War. Included are things like Bendict Arnold's escape to the British and of Major Andre's (Arnold's British conspirator) execution, a description of the British surrender at Yorktown, the Battle of Sag's Harbor and other wartime experiences. None of the accounts had been published before this book. Very good copy of the first edition in a good+ dust jacket. The dust jacket has a little edge wear. 446 pages.…

This book is nearly pristine: the exterior is square, spotlessly clean, free of corner bumps and edge dings with undamaged spine ends; hinges are strong. Except for an inked name/date/city on the back of the FFEP and an embossed name scrunched onto the FFEP and the title page, the interior is perfectly clean and completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and any sort of paper damage. Not remaindered, ex-library or Book Club edition. The dust jacket is clean and free of tears, scratches and scrapes, with a very faded spine; but worse--there is masking tape on the back side--along all edges, along both folds and on the entire width of the spine; that tape has not affected the binding at all and so far has had very little effect on the jacket (see photo). Jacket is now protected by mylar jacket cover. Oral histories of veterans of the Revolution, offered in 1820's in order to be eligible for a military pension--fascinating and moving experiences.…
