Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fine. Davies, Ventress and Kyllo, 1973. The authors and publishers of this detailed history of the North Peace Region in British Columbia did a remarkable job of collecting stories and photographs to create a compelling history of the place and the people, past and present. The City of Fort St. John is a city in northeastern British Columbia, Canada. A member municipality of the Peace River Regional District, the city encompasses a total area of about 22 square kilometres (8.5 sq mi) with 18,609 residents at the 2011 census. Located at Mile 47, it is one of the largest cities along the Alaska Highway. Originally established in 1794, as a trading post, Fort St. John is the oldest European-established settlement in present-day British Columbia This book is comprised of several sections: the primary history is 416 pages, the section written by Edith Kyllo on Hudson's Hope is covered in pages H1 H98 and then there is an index of 14 pages. This is followed by a large pull out map of the district from the 1920's. The book was made available for sale at the local museum and there is a stamp on the front endpaper that reads . " This Book Belongs To ___________ Available at Fort St. John North Peace Museum Gift Shop 9323-100 Street Fort St. John, B. C. Rating this book as "fine" does not do the book justice. I don't know how this book made its way to Nova Scotia but it is in pristine condition as is the dust jacket, now in a protective mylar sleeve. This large book will require additional postage.
